HoliThis holiday is celebrated throughout India and Nepal. To celebrate, people spend the day throwing colored powder and water at each other. Spring is believed to cause colds and viruses, so colored powders made from colorful medicinal herbs are thrown to encourage good health. Holi is both a celebration of the triumph of good over evil, as well as the arrival of spring. Holi takes place over two days in the later part of February or early March. As per the Hindu calendar, it falls on the Phalgun Purnima (or Pooranmashi, Full Moon), which will occur on March 22 in 2008. Use our Ayurvedic herbal Indian soaps to wash off all that colored powder! |
